Filigree Have some fun! Delicate filigree icing design, here combined with fondant ribbon. We like buttercream for the icing since it is so delicious. But fondant does make nice accents, especially if you would like a ribbon, but want something that will slice and serve with the cake. Cornelli
Lace
Cornelli lace is a lovely design. If just two or three rosebuds are placed on top instead of a large arrangement, it results in a drastically different look - one of sweet simplicity.

Classic
Pleats
Pleated icing is unusual and elegant, shown here tinted a muted golden yellow, with royal icing roses in fall colors. The couple chose carrot cake with a sprinkling of cognac, and vanilla buttercream icing.

Butterflies The butterflies look too realistic to be edible -- but they are! This is a nice design for small cakes because it looks complete with only two tiers. It also makes a great wedding shower cake-- the bride-to-be can take the top layer home as one of her gifts.

Pearl Elegance Buttercream pearls look elegant when scattered lightly across the cake, as pictured here. Placed closer together, they resemble Dotted Swiss and have a fresh, fun look that goes well with daisies and other unassuming flowers. |
